Soledad Miranda

Los gatos negros and A canção da Saudade were alternate - language versions of the same story. Although the plot is most likely the same in both versions, there is more information available about the Portuguese version of the film, A canção da Saudade.

Leonel is a pianist, nostalgic of sweet melodies, while his son Tony is the (real-life) leader of Os Gatos Pretos (The Black Cats), a musical group. Leonel's daughter, Cilinha, starts dating Raúl, a well-off young man, who promotes a new dancing club, the Lisboa Antiga e Moderna, where old and new music get an even share. Tony and his girlfriend Babá get engaged.

Soledad plays Babá and shows off her diverse dancing talents in this film.
