Summer. Muggy weather. Exam days. Miguel, a studious young man of normal habits, has brilliantly finished his degree in law and is congratulated; he is making plans with his fiancée Cristina. The other students have had different luck. A frivolous girl who has failed school organizes a party at her country house on the outskirts of Madrid. The party, of modern tone, stuns the friends. Miguel with Cristina, and Manolo with his girlfriend Luz, have as much fun as other young people of less scrupulous behavior; so that, upon returning to the capital, paired off, both couples succumb to temptation, the irreparable happening. Then the boys appear sincerely sorry and fearful of the consequences. The immorality of the business of the day is personified by don Leandro, unscrupulous head of a real estate company that operates irregularly, and by those who want to get mixed up with Miguel's father, who is legal adviser to a bank and a person of great integrity. For her part, Cristina, after the summer, is planning travel to North America; Manolo confesses to Miguel his indiscretion, and Miguel, who is also regretful, advises him to declare his fault to the parents.
Now Miguel is looking for good work, but he is going to undergo a strong temptation. Don Leandro wants to use Miguel to his benefit. With one of his diabolic projects, he attracts the new laywer Miguel through the trickery of Merche, his mistress. Miguel is dazzled with an advance, plus a secret favor for his father. Meanwhile, Manolo and Luz let the parents know their true situation. Merche falls in love with Miguel, which provokes the jealousy of don Leandro. The state of ruin of don Leandro's company is discovered, as are the businessman's bad tricks for involving Miguel and his father. The situation clarifies and resolves, and Cristina now will not go to North America to escape her guilt, because a new life opens up before them, full of hope.
