This is a comedy about the intersecting stories of five women and their loves, hopes, problems, and failures: a romantic, an intellectual, an unsuccessful singer, one that dies in an accident, and one that contemplates the burial. Charo dreams of a blue prince like the one who smiles at her every day from the movie screen. Elena, intellectual and cold, doesn't believe in anything and makes a living doing home visits to tutor literature. Eugenia, who works at a couture house, doesn't have any problems but adopts the ones of her niece Soledad, who is trying to make it in Madrid as a singer. Mara, a model, lives for her dream of love. These five friends live together in an apartment in Madrid's Plaza de Oriente. Charo, a waitress in a hotel who has a designer boyfriend, falls passionately in love an American actor who was staying at the hotel to find out, eventually, that he is homosexual. Elena, a writer, has relations with a painter. Her failure as a writer and as a woman disappears when she wins the Nadal prize and begins dating a famous journalist. Eugenia, seamstress, is in charge of her niece Soledad, also seamstress and who wants to be a singer, and has a little success as an actress. But it becomes totally impossible when the girl gets pregnant by an assistant director. The model Mara goes with a sick older man. When starting with the wedding preparations, Mara gets a dark and unexpected visit that could endanger her marriage plans. Then the couple dies in a car addicent. But, life goes on.
